01Scope

This policy covers the use of AI tools — including large language models — by The Discreet Investor in running this website and delivering our services.

02Where we use AI

• Research — finding and summarising public sources such as government fee schedules, programme regulations and bank tariffs.
• Writing and editing — drafting and editing website pages, articles and translations.
• Building the website — writing and testing the code of this site and its tools.
• Internal productivity — organising our own notes, checklists and templates.

03Human oversight

Everything AI helps produce is reviewed by a person before it is published or used. Figures on the website — investment amounts, fees, timelines — are checked against the official source, which is why each page shows when it was last verified. A person, not a tool, is accountable for every piece of advice we give.

04Where we never use AI

• Decisions about you. AI does not decide whether we take you on, which programme you are eligible for, or the outcome of our due diligence. We make no decisions based solely on automated processing.
• Your documents in public AI tools. We do not upload passports, bank statements, certificates or other client documents to public or consumer AI services.
• Replacing your adviser. You always deal with a person who knows your file.

05Our calculators are not AI

The cost calculators on this site are rule-based: they apply each government's published fee schedule with fixed formulas. The same inputs always give the same result, and the notes under each calculator explain how it is priced.

06Confidentiality and data protection

Where we use AI tools for business work, we choose providers that contractually commit not to use our inputs to train their models, and we avoid entering personal data. Any processing of personal data follows our Privacy Policy.

07Limits of AI

AI tools can produce errors or out-of-date information. That is the reason for the human review described above, and one more reason to confirm the details of your case with us rather than rely on general website content (see our Disclaimer).

08Your choices and contact
