General overview
Why Mauritius works
A rare creature: an offshore-grade jurisdiction with an onshore reputation. Solid institutions, international standards, and doors that open instead of closing.
Taxes +
The headline corporate rate is 15% — and the fine print is where it gets interesting: qualifying global and offshore activities can be fully exempt or taxed at a fraction of that, and a foreign tax credit offsets tax already paid abroad. For many international structures the effective rate lands around 3%, sometimes zero. Which regime your activity qualifies for is precisely what we establish on the free call.
Business-friendly by design +
A legal framework modelled on global best practice, a skilled, multilingual, cost-competitive workforce, modern infrastructure and thriving finance, tech and professional-services sectors. Entrepreneurs pick Mauritius to run real international operations, not just to hold a certificate.
Political stability +
A functioning democracy with reliable institutions and a protected rule of law — the framework investors trust not to change under them. For long-horizon structures, that predictability is worth more than a percentage point of tax.
Not a tax haven — and that's the point +
Major international institutions do not classify Mauritius as a tax haven. It has adopted the OECD's conventions, meets global transparency standards and exchanges tax information. The practical dividend: banks open accounts, counterparties don't flinch, and you keep low taxation without the reputational tax that usually comes with it.
What a Mauritius company is used for
Popular structures
Lower the group's bill, lawfully
A Mauritian holding at the top of an international group trims the total tax burden while adding privacy for financial operations and a layer of asset protection — return maximisation without crossing any lines, in a jurisdiction built for exactly that.
Discuss group structuringDividends & gains, exempted
Shares in other companies, intellectual property, real estate — held under exemptions on dividend and capital gains taxes, with centralised management over every subsidiary. The flexible skeleton for international growth.
Discuss a holdingReal teams, real costs
Call centres, IT and back-office operations run from Mauritius on skilled multilingual labour at competitive cost — one of the few "offshore" jurisdictions where hiring an actual team locally makes commercial sense.
Discuss operations setupBetween three continents
Positioned where African, Asian and European routes cross, with trade agreements that open partner markets — and no requirement to keep an office on the island for a trading company.
Discuss a trading companyThe FSC-regulated route
Asset management, private banking, trustee services — supervised by the Financial Services Commission under FATF-level AML rules. And the flagship: Mauritius's investment and forex licence, one of the most respected offshore frameworks for brokers anywhere.

The full process
Plan & prepare Preparation
Role, goals, name, shareholding — settled first. We prepare and legalise the founding documents, size the share capital to your company type, and stress-test the plan against both local and international market risks before a single form is filed.
Incorporation 1–2 weeks
We coordinate government agencies and local legal partners end to end, with updates at every stage. The registry itself turns files around in 3–5 business days; you receive the constitution, incorporation certificate and the full corporate set — and our support doesn't stop at the certificate.
Bank account 4 weeks
Mauritian banks are genuinely strict — they want evidence of real operations, clean owner details and full AML posture, and no honest provider guarantees approval. What we guarantee is a file built to their standard and coordination until the decision. Strict banks are also solid banks; that's the trade.
The details
Mauritius formation in depth
Documents & timing
The file centres on the constitution and bylaws, with a modest share capital depending on company type. Everything runs remotely — documents prepared and submitted electronically, no visit needed — and once complete, the registry incorporates in 3–5 business days.
The 15% with asterisks
The Mauritius Revenue Authority applies 15% on taxable income — with global and offshore activity classes that are exempt or partially taxed, plus the foreign tax credit. The right structure decides whether you pay 15, 3 or 0; we build the right structure.
Books & audits
Records must be kept at the registered office, and annual audits apply to some companies depending on type and scale, performed by accredited local auditors to international standards. Real compliance exists here — it's part of why the flag is respected, and our accounting package carries it for you.
Who can see what
Straight talk: under the Companies Act 2001, the register of directors is public — names and addresses disclosed. The shareholder register, by contrast, stays private, accessible to authorities only with valid reason and guarded by strict data-protection law. Nominee services are legal but regulated: only licensed providers, with beneficial owners disclosed to the authorities. Privacy here is structured, not absolute — and we design around exactly that.
Presence rules
Mauritius expects economic substance — a local office address at minimum, and for some activities premises and staff; for others a simple administrative presence approved by the authorities suffices. Shareholders and directors, however, face no residency requirements whatsoever and never need to visit. We provide and manage the on-island substance so the requirement becomes our job, not yours.
Ltd, GBC & more
The private limited company (Ltd) — the everyday workhorse; the Global Business Company (GBC) — the treaty-access vehicle for international operations, holding and IP, with conditional tax advantages; and the Authorised Company — successor of the old international/offshore company regime, for non-resident-controlled business managed outside Mauritius. Trusts and foundations complete the toolbox for wealth and estate work.

FAQ
About Mauritius registration
Is there a minimum share capital for a Mauritius company? +
No — you can start with as little as $1. Capital is sized to your project, not to a statutory threshold.
Is Mauritius a tax haven? +
No — and hasn't been treated as one by major institutions since 2019, when the old tax-free offshore regime ended. It follows OECD rules, exchanges tax information, and stays under international watch precisely because it grants real tax benefits. Low tax with a clean sheet: that's the product.
How do I start a company in Mauritius? +
Entirely remotely: design the project with us on a free call, sign the documents, and receive the keys to your Mauritian company shortly after. Our team carries the on-island steps.
What is the corporate tax rate in Mauritius? +
15% on taxable income as the baseline — with global and offshore activity categories that pay a reduced rate or nothing, depending on structure and activity. Every company's position is different; that's what the assessment is for.
What are the advantages of registering in Mauritius? +
The short list: a low 15% headline rate with treaty network on top, a stable economy, a skilled workforce, access to global markets — and a flag respected enough to enhance your company's reputation with clients and partners rather than raising questions.
Can I create a Mauritius company online? +
Yes — the fastest and safest route is through certified lawyers handling the electronic filing and local steps. One free consultation and you'll have the roadmap.
How much does a Mauritius company cost? +
From €1,900 for the basic setup, with the final figure depending on your project, company type and extras like the bank account. The exact quote comes free, after one call.
